TPAF Letters
This morning, the New Jersey Supreme Court issued its ruling in Berg and New Jersey Education Association v. Christie, a case that challenged the state’s right to take away the earned Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), which has long been an integral part of New Jersey’s public employee pension systems.  In a 6 to 1 vote, the court ruled against the plaintiffs. NJEA President Wendell Steinhauer released this statement regarding the Court’s ruling: "I am outraged that the Court has condoned the actions of Gov. Christie and the New Jersey Legislature in taking away the COLAs that our members have earned over the course of their careers. This is theft, plain and simple."
